Requiem's Embrace, a symphonic power metal band featuring members from Kaledon, Ex- Epinikion, and Imperial Age, discusses their formation, debut EP, and future plans in this exclusive interview.
1. "Requiem's Embrace
features members from various established bands. How did you all come together
to form this new project?"
AM: You
won't believe it but the band was born during a dinner in a Japanese
restaurant! Yes... at sushi! I had a record ready musically, and a mutual
friend introduced me to Eleonora, we liked each other artistically and here we
are! The other guys had already recorded their parts, but the record was
in hibernation
2. "Your debut EP is set
to release on July 5th. Can you give us a glimpse into what listeners can
expect from this record?"
AM: People
can expect a very linear symphonic power! nothing more
3. "Alex and Eleonora, as
founding members, what was the initial vision for Requiem's Embrace, and how
has it evolved since you first started?"
ED: To
be honest…the initial idea was a simple collaboration between the two of us
which has evolved over time into the project you are listening now!
4. "How do your diverse
musical backgrounds and experiences from bands
like Kaledon, Epinikion, Hellucination, and Imperial Age
influence the music of Requiem's Embrace?"
AM: To
be honest, the only influences you'll hear are mine and Eleonora's! I wrote all
the music for this EP, and the upcoming album, and she wrote the lyrics and
melodies.
5. "The symphonic power
metal genre often involves intricate compositions. Can you describe your
songwriting and recording process for the debut EP?"
AM: I
don't have any fixed rules when I write a song! I usually sit in front
of protools and start playing. As soon as I hear
something interesting I record it! I don't try to complicate things
on purpose. So I would say I'm very spontaneous, and above all I write a lot
based on what the influences are at that moment.
6. "Eleonora, your vocal
style brings a unique dynamic to the band. How do you approach your vocal
arrangements to complement the symphonic elements of your music?"
ED: I
try to follow what the music suggests to me. When I listen to the tracks for
the first time, they evoke landscapes and stories. Gradually, I translate them
into sounds and try to create juxtapositions that reflect “what I see”.
7. "With members involved
in other projects, how do you manage your time and commitments to ensure
Requiem's Embrace gets the focus it needs?"
ED: Obviously,
it isn't easy, but fundamentally, it takes passion and cooperation. Alex and I
are truly working day by day, constantly keeping in touch to meet all the
band's current needs, even at the most unlikely hours...
8. "Signing
with Sleaszy Rider Records is a significant milestone. How has this
partnership impacted the band’s plans and ambitions?"
AM: we
hope to receive the right promotion from the record company, in order to offer
the best publicity for the album. for the moment we proceed day by day
9. "What themes or
stories are explored in the lyrics of your debut EP, and what messages do you
hope to convey to your listeners?"
ED: It's
mainly about human events set in the world of the unconscious, dreams, and
magic…in a fairytale or a nightmare You can feel your fears through fantasy and
I think that these songs can do the same.
10. "Looking ahead, what
are your plans for promoting the EP release? Can fans look forward to any live
performances, tours, or special events?"
AM: We
are in good hands because the promotion of this EP is entrusted to Markus Eck
of Metal Message PR, and therefore I am sure that many people will know us. At
the moment there are no live shows planned, but in the future who knows?! Keep
