Prepare for an insightful discussion with AydrA about their return, new single "Forever Hide," and the highly anticipated album "Leave to Nowhere," set to release on October 10, 2024.

1. Your new single "Forever Hide" marks the beginning of a new era for AydrA. Can you tell us about the inspiration and creative process behind this track?
"Forever Hide" represents our journey and evolution as a band. The inspiration came from the idea of hiding from one's inner demons and the struggle to confront them. The creative process was intense and collaborative, involving a mix of our technical prowess and emotional depth to create a powerful and complex track that resonates on multiple levels.

2. After nearly 20 years, what motivated you to come back and create new music? How does it feel to be back in the studio and on stage again?
Our enduring passion for music and the overwhelming support from our fans motivated us to return. The desire to create something new and meaningful was a driving force. Being back in the studio and on stage feels invigorating and fulfilling, like returning to a part of ourselves that was always waiting to be reignited.

3. Your upcoming album "Leave to Nowhere" is highly anticipated. How does this album differ from your previous works, and what can fans expect in terms of musical direction and themes?
"Leave to Nowhere" is a concept album that tells the intense and touching story of an Eritrean immigrant's desperate journey to Europe. This album differs from our previous works by focusing more on emotional depth and narrative storytelling, while still maintaining our technical death metal roots. Fans can expect a balanced blend of intricate compositions, powerful riffs, and meaningful themes.

4. AydrA has undergone several lineup changes over the years. How has the current lineup influenced the band's sound and dynamic?
The current lineup has brought new energy and diverse influences, enhancing our sound and dynamic. Each member contributes unique skills and perspectives, creating a cohesive yet innovative musical direction. This revitalized dynamic has allowed us to explore new creative avenues and refine our technical prowess.



5. Can you share some of the challenges you faced during your long hiatus and what ultimately led to your reunion in 2013?
During our hiatus, we faced challenges such as lineup instability and personal commitments. Our reunion in 2013 was driven by a renewed desire to create and perform together. The support from our fans and the chemistry within the new lineup were crucial in overcoming these challenges and reigniting our passion for music.

6. Your early work under the name Hydra and subsequent transformation into AydrA marked significant shifts in your musical style. How do you reflect on those transitions today?
Reflecting on those transitions, we see them as essential phases in our growth. The evolution from Hydra to AydrA allowed us to refine our style and embrace more complex, technical elements. These shifts have defined our identity and set the foundation for our current work, making us more versatile and mature as a band.

7. "Icon of Sin" was a major milestone in your career. Looking back, what do you think made this album so impactful in the technical death metal scene?
"Icon of Sin" was impactful due to its technical prowess, innovative compositions, and thematic depth. It captured the essence of our musical vision and resonated with both fans and critics. The album's intricate arrangements and balance between technique and emotion set a new standard in the technical death metal scene.

8. The release of "Hyperlogical Non-sense" in 2004 continued your journey in technical death metal. What were some of the key themes and messages you wanted to convey with that album?
"Hyperlogical Non-sense" explored themes of existentialism, societal critique, and personal introspection. The album reflected our thoughts and emotions during that period, conveyed through complex structures and aggressive soundscapes, continuing our journey in the technical death metal genre.



9. You've signed with Rude Awakening Rec. for the vinyl release of your first three albums. What motivated this decision, and what are your hopes for these re-releases?
The decision to release our first three albums on vinyl was motivated by a desire to preserve and celebrate our legacy. Vinyl offers a tangible connection to our music, and we hope these re-releases will allow both old and new fans to experience our early work in a new, enriched format, maintaining the quality and depth of our original sound.

10. The "Rare Tracks" album will feature demo versions, covers, and collaborations. Can you tell us more about the significance of these tracks and what fans can look forward to?
"Rare Tracks" is a journey through our history, showcasing the evolution of our sound. Fans can look forward to hearing raw, unpolished versions of our songs, unique covers, and collaborations that highlight our versatility and the various influences that have shaped our music over the years.

11. Touring in the Balkans and supporting Infernal Poetry after your reunion must have been a memorable experience. Can you share some highlights from that tour?
The Balkan tour was incredible, filled with passionate fans and intense performances. Highlights include the camaraderie with Infernal Poetry, the enthusiastic reception from the audiences, and the sense of revival we felt playing our music live again. It was a reaffirmation of our connection with our fans and the metal community.

12. As pioneers of Italian technical death metal, how do you see the evolution of the genre over the years, and what role do you hope AydrA will play in its future?
The genre has evolved significantly, with new bands pushing boundaries and bringing innovative ideas. We hope to continue contributing to this evolution by blending our technical roots with contemporary influences, inspiring future generations of musicians, and keeping the spirit of technical death metal alive and dynamic. Our aim is to balance technical prowess with emotional depth, making music that resonates both technically and emotionally.
