1. Congratulations on the upcoming release of your album "Headshot"! Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind the album and its title track?

The album has been in the works for about a year and a bit. We wanted to create an album that has a bunch of different feelings to it. A few key life changing moments over the past few years lead to the influence and style of songs. Being in that moment.
2. SELIAS is described as a melodic death metal project with thrash metal influences. How do you balance these two elements in your music, and what sets SELIAS apart from other bands in the genre?

I think the style leans a lot towards European metal.....Also coming from a groove / thrash background from some of the influences and music ive been listening to all my life, obviously led to the style of writting and playing, as displayed on the album.
3. As a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer, what is your creative process like when composing new music for SELIAS?

My main insturment is guitar. I do all the writting on guitar to start. I try to break it down and have a main idea for every part of the song - weather thats a guitar, drum bass or synth.
4. Could you share some insights into the lyrical themes explored in "Headshot" and how they contribute to the overall emotional experience of the album?

Headshot was written lyrically from a soldiers point of view. No particular country or situation but more the mindset of what a solider is going through. Making it back home, you or me mentallity.

5. How has your extensive touring and performing experience influenced the sound and direction of SELIAS over the years?

I was part of a few previous bands , and am still in contact with some of the members today. We've done a few Canadian tours, and also touched down in the northern US states. Aman has also been in a few different projects, and has had extensive live and recording experience in south Asia as well.
6. Vocalist Aman Virdi brings a unique blend of catchy flows and brutal screams to SELIAS. How did you come to collaborate with him, and how does his style complement the band's sound?

Aman and I started discussing the project, and style in 2023. After a few discussions of the vision and sound of the project, we were both on the same page. Our vision of what we were looking to accomplish and produce aligned. It seemed to be a great fit from the start.
7. With influences from bands like In Flames, Killswitch Engage, and Lamb of God, how do you see SELIAS evolving within the metal scene while still paying homage to its roots?

We listen to a wide range of material and genres of music, not only metal. What we listen to, and write is a little different, and I think the sound is unique to SELIAS.
8. "Headshot" is set to be released as the first single from the album. What made you choose this track as the introduction to SELIAS' new music?

We wanted to showcase something heavy, upfront and killer off the hop. We wanted to engage listeners who are into the groove/melo-death and straight up metal. Something that you can nod your head to, while having all the elements of what our sound is.

9. Can you share any memorable experiences or challenges you faced during the production of "Headshot" that had a significant impact on the final outcome?

We ended up having a final 'cut' of four different styles. The songs were the same obviously, but the way the mix turned out were all a little different. We are happy with the final product.
10. SELIAS has been active for over 20 years, showcasing a balance of modern metal influence and a nod to the genre's roots. How do you maintain this balance while continuing to innovate?

I've been playing for over 20 years. I would say there was a hiatus due to life obligations, but am looking forward to this next musical chapter.
11. What can fans expect from the rest of the tracks on the upcoming album, in terms of themes, musical diversity, and overall experience?

We wanted to create an album that has one main emotion for each of the song. There was a lot of different elements lyrically that were changed and reviewed prior to the final cut thats showcased on the album
12. How do you envision SELIAS' live performances accompanying the release of "Headshot"? Any plans for touring or special events to promote the album?

For sure, we are looking to throw on a killer live show. Lots of energy, lots of visuals. we are going to be sorting out a Canadian and Northern US tour in support of the album.
