Che Arthur "For That Which Now Lies Fallow"

Che Arthur Returns with New Album "For That Which Now Lies Fallow"

Released digitally on April 26, 2024, through Past/Futures Records via Redeye Worldwide, Che Arthur's fourth solo album, "For That Which Now Lies Fallow," marks a significant return for the Pink Avalanche guitarist/singer. Known for his fervent and perceptive lyrics, Arthur's work is celebrated for its emotional depth and vivid imagery, as highlighted by PopMatters.

After exploring electronic music under aliases like Professor Downfall and Ha Subliminal, Arthur revisits his post-hardcore roots with "For That Which Now Lies Fallow," appealing to fans of Husker Du, Unwound, Dinosaur Jr, and Jawbox. AV Club Chicago praises his timeless, passionate songcraft, evident since his 2010 album "Like Revenge."

A seasoned touring sound engineer, Arthur has collaborated with notable bands such as Silversun Pickups, Bob Mould, and Manchester Orchestra. For this album, he recorded drums at Altered States Studio with Brian Fox and Matt Russell, then engineered and mixed the remaining tracks at home.

Arthur's latest work is an introspective journey through personal struggles, including his battles with cancer, aging, and isolation. In his words, "The guitar and my voice are the most direct means I have to deal with those demons... I made this record in an attempt to stay alive." Songs like "The Sliver" reflect a persistent search for hope amidst darkness.

The album's first single, "No Harbor," addresses the disorientation of aging as an artist in a youth-centric culture. Arthur believes that performing live helps him stay mentally afloat, stating, "That's the reason I wrote this album - to get those thoughts and feelings out and use the tools I have to communicate them."

"For That Which Now Lies Fallow" stands as a powerful testament to Arthur's resilience and his ability to transform personal turmoil into profound musical expression.
